tbonanno Posted August 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bottom Line: Leica USA Service was Top Notch.. I'm very happy with the M10 which I've used quite a bit since last April. However, I've felt that two of my old lenses, a 1969 f/2.8 Tele-Elmarit and a mid 1980's 35mm f/2 Summicron were not focusing at their best on the M10. The Tele-Elmarit was particularly problematic. These lenses were part of my old M4 kit, and I suspect that some tolerances had skewed over the years. I sent the M10 body and the two lenses to Leica's repair service in New Jersey on July 17th. I just received everything back today and I am happy to report that the difference was dramatic. Both lenses are dead on at all apertures and distances.. It took almost six weeks, but the wait was tolerable as I have other gear. Leica explained to me that they serviced the camera body right away and I could have had it back in my hands pretty quickly, but the hold up was the lenses. Both lenses required an adjustment to the mount and the optic cell necessitating about 3.5 hours labor on each lens. They wanted to keep the body until both lenses were out of the queue so that the could then test the lens on the M10 and make sure that the focus was adjusted to "digital standards." This was my first experience with Leica USA service and I am very pleased. BTW, their was no charge for the M10 adjustments (warranty), but the work on the lenses made a bit of a dent in my wallet (but worth it in the big picture). Cheers!
