mikeodial Posted August 7, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am considering upgrading from my X Vario (which I love) to a M 240. I love the output of the X Vario and it's compact nature. A few questions: is the image quality (with the right lenses) a really big jump from the X Vario? (This will be an expensive transitions and don't want to do it just because of GAS) What lenses would you recommend for someone who shoots street, landscape, still life, travel and family/portraits I shoot now also with Sigma SD Q, Sigma SD1M and Nikon D810 with Zeiss lenses ... I have too much equipment. Has anyone else made the transition to this camera as the mainstay for their work, from a big stable like I have? How did you find that? Thanks in advance, Mike

wda Posted August 7, 2017 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2017 Mike, I have both and enjoy both. 1. The improvement in image quality is most noticeable when cropping a file or presenting results as wall-art. Comparing results, on line as is done on the forum, conceals the true potential of both cameras. Increasingly I use my XV for every day use, almost exclusively when shooting close ups. 2. I would suggest 35mm for street and travel; 75mm or 90mm for portraits. On a budget, do not discount the modern Summarit lenses. 3. Not qualified to comment specifically. I would say you have more than adequate resources already. You need other convincing reasons to proceed in my view.
