M8 and flash

Is there a list anywhere of the flashes that can safely be used used with the M8? I know there was a thread relating to this but the listing wasn't definitive.

I have a Metz 34 CS-2 Digital and I'd love to use it but I'm now worried about the possibility of 'frying' the camera.

Thanks

I would imagine a Leica-specific base for your Metz flash would deliver a low enough voltage to be safe for the camera. Also, if there is a question, you can buy a Wein SafeSync from B&HPhoto or Adorama. This will give you X-center contact only (no TTL functions or communication between the flash and camera) but at least you won't fry your M8.

Dear Leica (Germany):

Please publish a list of approved flash units that are safe to use, without restriction, directly on the M8's accesory shoe.

Surely most Metz units should qualify but how do we know? I use a Wein HSHS unit between any flash unit and my M8 100% of the time.
