Advertisement Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Hi Zen1th, Take a look here Leica Q for video/vlogging. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
toniwonkanobi Posted September 11, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2017 I've wondered about this as well. I'd like to know if people have overcame the Q's lack of "manual mode" when using the Q's video mode.
Archiver Posted September 13, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2017 Check out Jon Olsson's vlog about the Leica Q. He loved the colours and look of the video for vlogging, but the lack of decent face detection AF was what killed it for him. The Q simply doesn't lock accurately and quickly on faces like, for example, the Sony A7R II, A6500, or the Canon C300 Mk II. Also, the Q has no external mic input, so if using an external mic is important to you, then consider that. Bear in mind that for some months, Jon Olsson was vlogging with a Leica SL! He then moved to Sony A7R II, A7S II, and a freaking RED Weapon Helium with PL mount cinema lenses. This guy gets a bit better face detection AF, but not that much. As an aside, while I understand the diversity of current media content, I can't get past the annoying narcissism of most vlogs. Oh, here's my face. Everybody look at my ugly face talking for ten minutes about... nothing! And intersperse that with some 'cinematic' shots of trees and water and stuff. Or freeze frame/black and white/slow motion on an insert shot. Yeah.
