dseelig Posted June 25, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 25, 2007 I have it . the wrong mount is on it you must contact zeiss and get a 35 mount. Before you have the mount swapped contact John Milch and get it 6 bit coded. then have them mount swithched by a professional I had a screw broken off and it took some time to have it taken out of the mount. I would suggest dag camera repair Don Goldberg. The lens is very nice. I may or may not keep mine because after picking up a zeisss 21 it seems a bit close to that and my 28 summicron.Popflash seems to ahve the best price. dseelig Posted June 25, 2007 Share #9 Posted June 25, 2007 The 25 zeiss comes with the 28 flange if you also get a 21 f2.8 zeiss that comes with a 50 flange. so if youbuy both the 21 and 25 and buy one 24/35 flange you will end up with the correct flanges for both. The new 21 zeiss 21 f4.5 is suppose to come with the 28 flange. I have both the 21 and 25 zeiss nice lenses and all 6 bit coded for less then one of either leica 21 or 24 lenses. teehas53 Posted June 26, 2007 Share #12 Posted June 26, 2007 Nice lens - very "crisp" due to high macro contrast. Extremely good corner sharpness at wide apertures, and very little distortion. I have compared it to the 24/2.8 Elmarit (considered to be one of Leica's best current-production lenses,) and it holds up very well. [The following is not for the faint of heart] I modified the stock mount on mine with a micro-milling machine (before it became known that the mount could be fairly easily switched.) It was a simple procedure, and completely effective. Care has to be taken to protect against metal filings getting into places where you don't want them, but it now triggers the correct 24mm framelines. Next step is probably to have the mount modified by JM for coding. Trouble is, I picked up a 24 Elmarit in the mean time, and it always seems to be my first choice in that focal length...
