strohscw Posted July 13, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to ask if there is a way to use the Canon 24mm TSE 3.5 L II on my Leica M10. In my opinion there are two issues: 1.) No rangefinder coupling, therefore I can use the EVF 2.) No fStop connection, this is the main problem. I would be happy to have an adapter with a fixed fstop if possible.
Advertisement Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Hi strohscw, Take a look here Canon TSE 24 3.5 L II T/S lens on Leica M10. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wceide Posted July 13, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2017 Hi, i regularly use both the canon TSE 24 and TSE 17 on a Leica MP 240, so as a leica 28 mm PC. I use a kippon adapter which is very fine. The adapter does not enable to close the aperture so i close the aperture of the lens with a canon body (select aperture, close with the depth of field preview, remove the lens). I stop down at f 11 which is where the TSE are at their best. It is the only aperture i used with these lenses on canon bodies, so not being able to change aperture does not bother. I also use a RRS L plate for the body, very convenient in portrait orientation. This is a great combo for architecture. I find the result better than on a canon 5D mark 3. Should be the same with M10. I am waiting the P version to make the switch.
strohscw Posted July 14, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted July 14, 2017 Thanks for the info, I didn't know that it is possible to keep the fstop closed when removing the lens.
screwmount Posted July 14, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 14, 2017 That is ridiculous ..... Are you carrying a Canon body in addition with you all the time? Or are you using the fstop of the day all day long?
brill64 Posted July 14, 2017 Share #5 Posted July 14, 2017 Actually its not ridiculous. You only have to set the aperture once on a Canon body. It is then fixed at f11.
Steve Spencer Posted July 14, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 14, 2017 You can carry one of these to change the aperture. It is pretty small and much easier than carrying another camera: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/672332-REG/Redrock_Micro_8_041_0001_LiveLens_Active_Lens_Mount.html

wceide Posted July 15, 2017 Share #8 Posted July 15, 2017 I use à kipon adapter I use this set up for architecture photography on tripod. Once the aperture is set , i do not change it and do not need to. Tilt and shift lenses need to be closed to offer their larger image circle and give good optical results when shifted. I do not carry any canon body and shoot the same aperture all day. I only shoot architecture at f 11 which is very common with tse lenses. When I used canon bodies before using the leica, i always shot at f11 anyway. Doesn't change anything at all. Guest )-( Posted July 16, 2017 Share #10 Posted July 16, 2017 You can carry one of these to change the aperture. It is pretty small and much easier than carrying another camera: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/672332-REG/Redrock_Micro_8_041_0001_LiveLens_Active_Lens_Mount.html Interesting gadget. Does it need some other gadget to actually stop down the lens? An 'M2 encore', whatever that may be? I do miss these tilt/shift lenses. I'd consider a s/h 6D to use them fwiw, they're probably pretty cheap now there's a newer version. I seem to remember they're sharpest at (or even slightly below) f/8. I hate electronic apertures but the TSE 24 and 90 are almost worth it.
Guest )-( Posted July 16, 2017 Share #11 Posted July 16, 2017 Or even a Sony A7r, still on the cheaper side and a better sensor than the M10?

It runs on a 9V battery.
Adam K Posted July 16, 2017 Share #13 Posted July 16, 2017 I have no experience with the Canon TSE lenses, but I have successfully used the Nikon 28mm PC lens on my M10 with an adaptor. The old lens is a 'pre-set' aperture which helps with focussing as it can be done with Live View at full aperture. Results have been very good, even, sometimes, hand-held. I look forward to trying the newer Nikon tilt-shift lens soon, but I'm also concerned about aperture control on the current lens.
