M10 Protector - not a good fit?

Thanking Eric-1 for reassuring me about no problem of warmth I have bought the Leica half case today.

But if I do not use the screen cover I do not understand why the extra spacer strip is recommended. The single half case should be right and not spoil the bottom of the camera. Why in your opinion should it be used ?

I use the extra piece of leather at the bottom without the screen cover so the half case is flush with directional pad otherwise it doesn't sit high enough. im guessing this is why they included it. if you use the screen cover part, you don't need the extra piece.

Ah, ok... the strip is a substitute for the bottom of the screen protector when this is not used.

I have a brown case and have the same problem with not being able to get the flap to fit properly (and yes I did remove the other insert). In my case the hinge portion seems just a little too thick for the bottom of the camera to easily fit down into the case. Without the flap the half case fits perfectly with the base insert.

 

I gave up in the end. Maybe I'll return to it later and give the leather flap some softening - chemical and mechanical - and see if it will fit better.
