Guatemala: Safe to carry Leica?

Very subjective topic, I travel a lot and I understand that unless you are stupid most places are safe. One can be a danger to their own gear. Now that put out of the way, can I carry one of these to my Guatemala trip? Has anyone been there with any camera equipment? Would love to hear from you all. My trip is coming up soon. Appreciate your 2 cents. Black on is not a MP. It's gaffers tape 7e1b2c6c1e54e72b609ed85e77e0260a.jpg

I travel for years totally unguided though every Asian country I am interested in. I use a Leica - only equipment when I travel: M240, M7, 35, 20, 75 and all is covered by a photographer insurance. The M7 is my fallback solution, if the M240 gets broken. I never ever had any problems wearing a red dot camera. In my opinion, using gaffer tape to hide the brand results in more curiosity than you want. My two cents advice: Being friendly as much as possible to all the people around you, doing martial arts and having a good insurance company will reduce your personal and equipment risk nearly to zero. Otherwise the alternative would be: Don't use a Leica if you travel :)

You know it's so true. Why bother buying a Leica if you can't use it. I took it to Guatemala and surprisingly it was so safe out there. I had only take my 35 Summicron and 21cv which I returned. I actually met few people with Canon 5d who knew nothing about Leica. Kept on calling it 'them mirrorless camera' people really thought I was carrying a crap camera
