Playing around with M8 and Panasonic DMC-FZ10. The color and image quality are total different. Although the Panasonic comes with a vario-elmarit 1:2.8/6-72 Asph lens, but the image output are nowhere close. I am not painting myself in the corner, but I think the DC lens on Panasonic just doesn't have the 'feeling&taste' of leica.

Dear louischow,

Nice picture.

I do not think it is fair to compare a FZ10 to a Leica M8 (!) Just look at the technical datas and the prices of the two cameras:

Panasonic FZ10:

Size of sensor (4,3mm x 5,8mm) / 4 million pixels

Lens: Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 6-72mm lens - equalent to a 35-420mm lens in 35mm film.

Price: 700 EURO

Leica M8:

Sixe of sensor: (18mm x 27mm) / 10,3 million pixels

Price with 35mm Summicron & 135mm APO-Telyt lenses: 9.100 EURO

Above mentioned differences might be the reason for you not getting the right "Leica feeling & taste" out of your FZ10 camera :-))

All the best - Svenning, Denmark

Thanks Ed,

It was taken by FZ10, I don't know, maybe is really me that I can't get the Leica signature out from it. Well, true that its not fair to compare M8 to FZ10, but I do expect the Leica signature from the FZ10's len. Anyway, thank you guys.

Louis
