wes54 Posted June 18, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I would like to know if anyone else has problems seeing the meter diodes on their M6 or M6TTL, outside. Mine are quite faint, easily seen inside but outside it is very difficult see them and in sunlight almost impossible to see. W.

EoinC Posted June 18, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 18, 2017 Mine are fine on my M6 TTL, as long as the batteries are still kicking. I haven't tried 'outside', only looking directly via the viewfinder.
philipus Posted June 18, 2017 Share #3 Posted June 18, 2017 I have no trouble seeing my TTL's LED's inside or outside. They do get more difficult to see if my eye is not pressed against the ocular. Have you tried new batteries? Hi, I would like to know if anyone else has problems seeing the meter diodes on their M6 or M6TTL, outside. wes54 Posted June 19, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted June 19, 2017 Thanks for the response. I've changed the battery but still not clearly visible in daylight.. I must put my finger across the bottom of the viewfinder to clearly see the diodes. I have read on the internet that sometimes there is a battery drain with two little 'pins at the bottom of the battery chamber that are used for diagnostics, but when I unscrew the cover and take the battery out I can only see the "coil' at the bottom of the chamber not the 2 x pins?? philipus Posted June 19, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 19, 2017 I'm afraid I don't know what it could be then, beyond faulty diodes possibly. About battery drain, are you say that with new batteries the diodes are clearly visible as they should be, but that shortly after they become dim(er)? Edit: I had a problem with my TTL a while back and posted about it here. I didn't have the exact same problem though so it's fwiw (sorry). In my case what did help was to always use the SR44 or 1/3n lithium batteries. I think I had used LR44s which are alkaline and drain differently from the lithiums. The main difference is that the lithiums output the same voltage through their lifespan. That said, I think I've since used LR44s occasionally without any major problems, so I'm not sure if lithiums are absolutely necessary. But if you haven't tried them yet perhaps do just in case. Btw, the TTL manual does mention only SR44s and 1/3n batteries. Hope it helps Philip Thanks for the response. I've changed the battery but still not clearly visible in daylight.. Doc Henry Posted June 20, 2017 Share #6 Posted June 20, 2017 Wes ,as I said in this post https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/35319-i-love-my-m6/?p=3298282 if your battery is good , I am afraid you must send to Leica Customer Service to check it . It's not normal. Henry
Chuck Albertson Posted June 25, 2017 Share #7 Posted June 25, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) One other thing to try is to run the film speed dial up and down through its range a few times. Sometimes the contacts in the dial build up corrosion and that can cause erratic meter behavior. Running it through its range scrubs off some of the corrosion.
