Richardgb Posted June 15, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) A couple of weeks ago or so, my desktop duly announced an upgrade to Win 10 which had been running successfully for some while. Apparently the upgrade had something to do with 'Surface' or whatever - I don't use any 'touch' screen. This was more than just a few tweaks - the whole process took over an hour (I gave up waiting and went to bed). Next day everything appeared to run normally, until I came to PS Elements 12... I use this (in conjunction with LR) for editing, in particular adding text to images. And that's where I hit the problem: the text editing tool could not be initialised and so no text layer and text could be added. A search of the Adobe product forum hinted that the upgrade may have had something to do with it (and had affected other versions of PS Elements), but no 'cure' was offered. There was nothing on the M'soft community pages. Biting the bullet, I decided to roll back to the previous version of Win 10. This did not take as long as the upgrade but the process disabled the anti-virus software (Eset); this had to be re-installed by Eset's customer service, whose customer service (especially given it wasn't their software at fault) was exemplary). Fingers crossed, I opened PS Elements and went to the text tool - and it worked. I've subsequently posted details of my problem and how I got back to normal on the Adobe forum and on M'soft's community.
