Ergos Posted June 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all dear members of this forum, I am reading your posts since many months ago and now, eventually, I am here to write you as a new, happy, Leica customer. Yes... not only I am new to the M8 but I am new also to rangefinder photography and I couldn't be more satisfied to begin in this wonderful way (a digital rangefinder from Leica). What else could I say... I have many many questions and now that I have broke the ice with the first post I think you will soon see my questions on these pages :-) . However thanks again to spend your time and knowledge here since I have learn so many things from your threads that are of invaluable value for me. For the curious in you, I have a black M8 with a 35 Summicron. Thanks again, Filippo

Ergos Posted June 23, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted June 23, 2007 Yes... I have thinked a lot about the first lens. After all, considering the crop factor, I think I have choose the right one for me. For now, if I need a closer look, usually I zoom with my feet (walking in the direction of the subject...). Greetings, Filippo

grober Posted June 24, 2007 Share #7 Posted June 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Welcome. Camera take a bit o' learnin' for sure but the post-processing workflow issues one needs to master seems oppressive to me just now, taking a bit of the glow off the M8 purchase. Also, expect to spend more than your thought necessary in beefing up your computer and printer infrastructure. Make sure you buy one 39mm IR-cut filter for that Summicron. Keep at it. Despite my pessimistic expression above, you'll find a good community here. -g
marknorton Posted June 24, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 24, 2007 I'd suggest you shoot DNG + JPEGs so that you can enjoy usable images right out of the camera and concentrate on getting used to the camera first, and then move on to post processing for that extra quality when you are ready.
