Magnifying Focus Area

Hello All,

I'm new to the SL and trying to learn various functions. I have 2 current questions:

1. One of the things I'd like to do is be able to lock in the auto focus setting (I use the AE-L on the toggle switch), magnify that area when still on AE-L to check the focus and adjust with manual focus. I can find no way to magnify when auto focus is locked. Is there a way to do this?

 

2. is there a setting to increase the magnification of the area you are focusing on?

To achieve the effect you're after with the SL:

 

• Set the camera to manual focus.
• Set the joystick button to auto focus when pressed. 

 

In use: 

 

1. Target your subject and press the joystick to focus.
2. Click the lower-right button once or twice to magnify.
3. Adjust and tweak focus as needed.
