If the shutter is set to (say) ten seconds, it takes ten seconds to write it to the SD card, and a six-second exposure takes six seconds to transfer, and so on. karlitos Posted June 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 23, 2007 Are you refering to the 'countdown' that appears on the LCD after, say, a 5sec exposure? If the answer is yes, then it is the Long Exposure Noise Reduction. It can be switched off in the third page of the menu, then the image will write directly and more quickly to the card. Bo_Lorentzen Posted June 23, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2007 Actually this slow noise reduction is probably a signature shot, the camera capture a black image at the same exposure time as you did, but because it is black, all the noise in this image will be caused by the chip and the current temperature in the system. (hotter chips generate more noise) the camera then substracts this noise image from the first image you captured to take the system noise out of the image and then save your image minus the system noise. if you have the time it is well worth waiting for this process.
