hunta Posted June 1, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 1, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was recently in the Leica Mayfair store where they have a large print of this image hanging on the wall: It has incredible clarity and pop. I believe it was taken using a 35mm Summilux ASPH, if memory serves. Does anyone have any thoughts on the secret soup that might have gone into post-processing? Exodies Posted June 1, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 1, 2017 It looks a bit HDRish
LocalHero1953 Posted June 1, 2017 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2017 I'm guessing entirely, and this is only visible as a small image here, but I suspect the original image showed very low exposure on the foreground figure, so it has been masked in Photoshop (not Lightroom) and brought up to its current level. Similar treatment to a lesser extent to other features which would have been underexposed. The original exposure would have been for the sky and sea - the shot looks as if it is into the sun. frame-it Posted June 1, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 1, 2017 those highlights on his face and shoulder look like they're from a flash or bounce light, not from PS/LR, the splotchy grays at the edge of the clouds are probably from PS or LR while reducing the highs
almoore Posted June 4, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 4, 2017 Does anyone have any thoughts on the secret soup that might have gone into post-processing? It looks like brutal use of the 'Clarity' slider in Lightroom. Push it far enough to the right and it'll make a Holga image 'pop'.
Bundestrainer Posted June 6, 2017 Share #6 Posted June 6, 2017 You can download the image from the Leica website and import it into LR. Then you'll see what kind of processing was done.
