cwf Posted June 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Perhaps getting ahead of myself (again), I downloaded the Aperture trial. Here is a first, very preliminary report: 1. Not unexpectedly the download and installation went off without a hitch (as had the mandatory upgrade of OS X from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10). 2. Without bothering with any help, tutorial, or even a roadmap, I was able to import about 55 images via cardreader without a hitch. Of course, I was also able to set up a the images as a project. That reminded me of making a new playlist in iTunes. Since I find building playlists pretty intuitive, this bodes well, imho. 3. I was able to e-mail two photos from within Aperture by using the utility provided. It called up Mail and the rest seems perfectly normal except of course there was no need to attach the image. 4. With the start of the Red Sox/Padres (U.S. baseball) looming, I concluded my activites by running a slideshow of the images. I was able to add music in iTunes to accompany the show. Since I was just trying to do these limited things, I don't exactly know what I did. I intend to be more methodical and aware going forward. Aperture appears to running slightly slow, but I rather expected that on an iMac G5, 2 GHz, Radeon 9600 with 128 MB, and 1.5 GB RAM. I can't say that it is noticeably slower than running C1 LE, which I had batch process the imported images this afternoon. Further reports of progress or, at least as likely, cries for help, may well follow. But I'd hope to hear from others as well.
