malcolm.mcintyre Posted June 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Be gentle if it is a totally stupid question, I've only owned a Leica for a week. I have a fair collection of Nikon glass, can any be used on an M8. If so, who sells the adapters?
Advertisement Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Hi malcolm.mcintyre, Take a look here Can I use Nikkor lenses on an M*. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Theodor Heinrichsohn Posted June 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 21, 2007 I remember seeing adapters for Nikkor lenses to Leica M bayonet made by Novoflex and several Japanese manufacturers. I have never used them. In any case they will have to be used in aperture priority, picture taken stopped down and focused by estimation. bill Posted June 21, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 21, 2007 Get hold of a copy of the Leica M Compendium by Jonathan Eastland. He writes at some length about doing just this with a "LeiNik" converter. Regards, Bill

robsteve Posted June 21, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 21, 2007 Cameraquest sells adapters for SLR lenses on the M. They even mimic a focuing cam so you can use the rangefinder in the camera to get the distance to set the lens to. Adapters: SLR Coupled to M
innerimager Posted June 21, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 21, 2007 I'd be most interested to hear from anyone who has used these adapters with nikon lenses. I'm particularly interested in trying the 58/1.2 noctilux and a few other AI-S lenses. best....Peter

Philippe D. Posted June 22, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 22, 2007 Hi Peter, I'm particularly interested in trying the 58/1.2 How do you want to focus a 58 f/1.2 on a M8 ? I use sometimes a 17mm Rokkor with adapter on my M8, but there is practicaly no need of focusing with that kind of lens. Cheers, Ph.
Guest licht Posted June 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted June 22, 2007 If you want to use your old Nikon Lenses digital buy a Nikon D200. You can see what you get on the picture, you can focus and the lightmeter is working.

Hi Philippe- Well, we certainly wouldn't hope for much at 1.2, but I'd be thinking of trying it with a visoflex. I am curious how this all works in practice. You mention your 17mm, I'd be also curious how the venerable nikon 17-35/2.8 works at the wider angles. best...Peter

I am curious how this all works in practice. Forget it! The Visoflex add 40mm (1.57 in) between lens and body. That's a pretty big macro ring. lars_bergquist Posted June 22, 2007 Share #12 Posted June 22, 2007 I have used a Novoflex adapter to hitch an Olympus OM 16mm semi-fisheye to the M, with good results. Here too focusing is of course no problem. The old man from the Age of Fisheye Lenses
