Emergency: Tips Needed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings,

I am a rank amateur. I like to shoot macros & digiscopes.

My son-in-law has me set up to shoot seven people individually, and as a group, for his business web-site.

Poor guy.

I have to be there in two hours.....I will bring my D-lux 3 & my Digilux 2.

The batteries are charged.

I think we will be outside.

My first inclination is to use the portrait setting on the D-Lux 3.......no skill needed.

Any thoughts ?.........I'm not expecting much.....just a few tips please.........Al

Don't have a -3 but I have used the D2 for 3 years.

I would back off far enuf so that you fill the frame for whatever set of people are in each picture, with the lens set at 90mm.

I would use an aperture of 5.6 or 8 and set the shutter speed to Automatic.

Now check to see if you will be shooting at 1/125 or faster.

Put the camera on a tripod and gently press the shutter each time.

Chimp a lot.

The pix will be beautiful.

If you have to shoot inside use the flash, pointed up at the 45-degree angle.

Pose people away from the wall so the shadow disappears.

Have them about 1/2 way between you and the behind stuff.

Try to have blank something behind them.

If it's going to be on the web, a light background may be the best.

With flash, set to 1/250.

See what aperture the D2 give you. Set the iso to get f4 or better.

The flash pictures will be flatter than outside shots.

If you can get outside, pose the people in open shade. If there are bald heads you will have to worry about burning out the skin above the eyes. Get under the trees with them so that they face 90-degrees away from the open sky.

Chimp a lot.

G'luck. Tell us where the pix can be seen.
