AntonioF Posted March 30, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'm pretty new to the forum. I'm from Southern Italy. I own an old Leica IIIc, which I have used only with a cheap Jupiter lens, and an M6, which I still have to use because the Summicron 35 I ordered has to be delivered yet. I shoot BW film with other old cameras (Nikon F80, Pentax MX, Mamiya 645) and digital with a Fuji XT10. I'm curious about the M6 and the Summicron ... also because I have spent a certain amount of money for them. We'll see how it goes. The quality of the gear might be zeroed by the home development and scanning ... Sometimes I post on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iamtheregulator/ Take care! Ciao Antonio

stray cat Posted March 31, 2017 Share #4 Posted March 31, 2017 Hi Antonio, Welcome! Your experience sounds a little like mine, although I did it the opposite way - I had the 35mm Summicron lens for a while before I got my fist M6TTL. Notice I say first. It doesn't end with one! (Well, no, OK, we all have our own experiences and ways of going about things). Anyway, I hope your experience will be every bit as happy and fulfilling as mine has and continues to be. Also I've never used a Leica Thread Mount camera and am interested to see some photos you've made with yours. Don't forget to post some photos on the "I Like Film" thread under "Other" in the Photo forum! I really like the ones you have on the Instagram link. duckrider Posted March 31, 2017 Share #5 Posted March 31, 2017 buon giorno Antonio, You'll really enjouy Your M & Summicron. Already owing a screw mount lens, may I suggest to buy an L to M adapter? There are original ones from Leitz http://www.ebay.de/itm/Original-Leica-Leitz-Adapter-M-39-Lens-Objektiv-an-on-M-2-M-3-28-50-2-8-5-cm-7-/252731373027?hash=item3ad7f6b5e3:g:OaAAAOSwNnRYgL4w http://www.ebay.de/itm/Leitz-Leica-IRZOO-14097-50-75mm-M-L39-Adapter-Ring-/142289689730?hash=item2121205c82:g:BSUAAOSw32lYru7g and cheap ones form far east, http://www.ebay.it/itm/M39-Lens-to-LEICA-M-L-M-LM-Camera-50-75-mm-Ring-Mount-Adapter-/262362494892?hash=item3d1605f7ac:g:qGUAAOSwJQdW~SRj http://www.ebay.de/itm/Adapter-fur-Leitz-M39-L39-Schraubobjektiv-an-Leica-M-Kamera-50mm-75mm-Brennweite-/270913266109?hash=item3f13b061bd:g:RI4AAOSwjVVV3~n7 they'l doo most of the time. shown links are only examples, search on Your own! Mention to get the right one for 50mm lenses, there are three different type: 35/135 , 50&75 and 28/90mm, difference is the frame, chosen in the M6 viewfinder. Hi, honestly I have not used the IIIc a lot for few reasons and the most important is that it is not a very user friendly camera due to the fact it is an almost 80yo camera! Also I have experienced some light leaks, but I won it on ebay for 100 euro ... Here a couple of photos. They are HP5 pushed to 800 and developed in Ilfosol 3. They are somewhat soft but I do not know if that is because of the lens compatibility (Jupiter 8), my focusing or the flatbed scanner (the only one I have). The camera is really nice and solid though, maybe some day I will try to get an Elmar 5cm F3.5 for it. https://www.flickr.com/gp/46768990@N00/BLrP49 https://www.flickr.com/gp/46768990@N00/qddH62

Robert M Poole Posted April 1, 2017 Share #8 Posted April 1, 2017 All this talk of Jupiter lenses has made me buy one fingers crossed it's a good copy, it's coming from Russia but for £30 including delivery I can't complain Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
AntonioF Posted April 1, 2017 Author Share #9 Posted April 1, 2017 Ah ah ah! I have two. A retractable one and a regular black one that came with a cheap Zorki, but I have never finished the roll in the Zorki. I will try them in the M6 as soon as I get the adapter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro I got it more to use in my Fuji xe1 but if it's interesting i might get an adaptor for my m9 too. I have an industar 50mm and a Helios 44-2 which I absolutely love. They're m42 though so wanted an ltm mount as they're smaller. AntonioF Posted April 1, 2017 Author Share #11 Posted April 1, 2017 Right! The retractable one is an Industrar-22 (50mm) not a Jupiter-8 ... damn I'm getting confused! The Helios is really nice. My first real camera was a Zenith (around 1987). It still works and I have used the Helios on my Fuji XT10 because I was curious of the famous swirly bokeh! It's really soft at F2 but the overall appearance is nice. 58mm on a cropped sensor ... basically a portrait lens Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

mikemgb Posted April 1, 2017 Share #13 Posted April 1, 2017 Welcome! I use a III with either a 50mm Elmar or a Jupiter 50mm. The Jupiter is certainly softer but still very usable. I also have an M2 with 50mm Summicron. I shoot mostly black and white, develop mostly in Ilfosol 3 and scan on a flatbed scanner. I find the quality I get is better than anything I can get commercially locally. You are going to love the Summicron, you would also love a screwmount Elmar if you get one, it turns a Barnack into a pocket camera.

I'll keep following the actions on ebay, I switched from Ilfosol 3 to HC-110 after a few rolls. It appears to me to work overall better even when I push film and the bottle will probably last forever!
