fordfanjpn Posted June 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I see various raw converters mentioned here, and I have myself tried ACR, LR, Bibble, C1, Aperture (and Capture NX with the D200 files), but so far no one has mentioned my favorite converter, Silkypix. Does anyone here besides me have any experience with Silkypix and the M8? If Guy decides to upload another test file for a converter comparison, I'd be happy to contribute a Silkypix conversion. I've been using LR for general stuff, jpeg conversion for email or web uploads and things like that, but when I want a "real" conversion, I use Silkypix. So far I haven't been able to get a better conversion from anything else. YMMV. Bill
Advertisement Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Hi fordfanjpn, Take a look here Speaking of raw converters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
howard_cummer Posted June 20, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 20, 2007 Bill, I use Silky Pix Developer Studio 3.0E as my main converter with the M8. It is especially effective with IR images and much easier to use than CS2 which is my other main program. Cheers Howard
pietgispen Posted June 20, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 20, 2007 I use Silkypix as my main converter and am quite happy with it. Sometimes I also use Capture One, Lightroom, Lightzone and Bibble, but Silkypix is my favourite. Regards Piet Gispen Piet Gispen Photography
vic vic Posted June 20, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 20, 2007 as soon as you choose your prefered RAW conversion.... you want to do something good and valuable with your m8, besides talking techs? take a look and contribute here with your cameras. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/26874-edward-burtynskys-photos.html it is more important and more "leica spirit" and more photographic than talking techs
sdai Posted June 20, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 20, 2007 Silkypix has the best color map amongst anything in the market, it's my favorite as well.
fordfanjpn Posted June 20, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted June 20, 2007 Thanks for the replies. I was beginning to think I was the only one using Silkypix! Since we all have different tastes and different preferred ways of working, it's nice to know that there are so many options available to us. Hopefully we'll be able to include SP the next time someone wants to do a comparison. Bill
