I love the lens shade on the Leica SVE 14-24 it's fixed and has the biggest lens cap I have ever seen for 35 mm camera (barring large teles). I use most hoods but have a tinge of reluctance for holding such the huge unwieldy hoods on the 90-280 and sometimes I wont use it on the Apo 35 SL. It's an archaic and remnant belief that big lenses are not very cool. The hoods always travel with my lenses, it's one of those "parental like rules" for handling important gear and lenses drummed into one when learning photography. Scratching or damaging the lens walking through the bush or on the studio floor is inexcusable. It's all about paying attention at all times.

I've never liked the bulky lens hoods for my 28 & 35 Apo's. That's why I'm very happy that there is now a much "slimmer" lens hood for the newly introduced 21 Apo (and it's made of metal!). Because this also fits perfectly on the 28 and 35 Apo's! Absolutely recommended...

Interesting, I didn't know they made a new metal hood for the 21 apo ! The plastic ones eventually separate at the seam. Gonna grab one for my 35.
