kb7001 Posted March 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Leica Q, brand new, makes a very soft noise with an occaisional soft clunk all the time, some sort of motor perhaps? To hear it one must put one's ear up to the camera. The video is not on. Anyway, the noise is there under all settings that I have tested including manual focus. Does anyone else have this problem? The battery life seems awfully short too, which may be related. The battery is not running hot though.
Advertisement Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Hi kb7001, Take a look here soft noise from Q. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
viramati Posted March 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 14, 2017 Your'e probably just hearing the noise the the OIS system makes even when it's not activated and is totally normal. Plenty of threads on this topic. Try turning OIS on and it may get a little louder like a sort of whirring noise with the odd click. Personally I wouldn't worry about it if the camera is otherwise acting normally and avoid holding it to your ear!! Battery life is not great but it should improve a bit after the camera has been used for a week or so
