M240 and 35mm ZM 1.4 Distagon portraits

Hı,

I'm new to Leica M system. And I purchsed a M 240 and Zeiss 35mm 1.4 distagon in mint condition in January 2017. Before Leica M, I have used Nikon D810, Olympus E-M5, Nikon D300 with couple of very good lenses (Sigma art 50mm, 180mm 2.8 macro, Zuiko 75mm 1.8, Panaleica 25mm 1.5).

I'm trying to get used to 35mm prime lens on a rangefiner. As I'm 46 years old and wearing eye glasses, it may be troublesome. But I really like to use RF system. No rush, just pleasure.

I like to take street photographs and environmental portraits. For these purposes, 35mm works for me. But also I like to shoot close portraits. I think 50mm is very close to 35mm.

Do you advise me to buy a 50mm lens or 75mm one? And which lens? Summlilux, Cron or Nokton?

Thanks for your inputs.

Hello,

for me 35mm lens in 35mm photography isn't too close in comparison with 50mm. Very different angle of view, perspective etc. If you have different view, maybe Summarit 75 or Cron Apo 75 will be good option for you in pair with 35mm lens. Summarit is light, small, very sharp, modern leica-look lens, good for portraiture works.
