Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted February 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Okay so I have a question, I am planning a photoshoot next week in a hotel room and plan to use my S007 as the main camera, SL as a back up and the Hassy 503 for fun. I have 2 Profit B1 heads plus a SB58 flash. My plan is to just take one B1 head (carryon weight limited) plus the SB58 I have used the Profoto heads with my S007 and 503 already and also used the SB58 on the SL (without much success..........human error I guess) My question is should I just use the one B1 head and be done with it or is there a way to use the B1 head as the main light and the SB58 as a hair light...........is that possible and if so how do I set that up??? Thanks in advance Neil

albireo_double Posted February 22, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2017 Two ways: (1) Page 66 of the SF-58 operating manual - you set the SF-58 in the "M-Slave" mode. You set the power and flash zoom on the SF-58 manually. The flashes from the B1 will trigger the SF-58 using the latter's built-in optical flash sensor. Easy and simple, unless the SF-58's sensor is obscured and can't see the flashes from the B1 (which shouldn't be the case in your scenario). (2) Alternatively, if you have a second Air Sync or Air Remote trigger, you can fire the SF-58 using one of these set in the "receive" mode. You connect this second trigger to the SF-58 using one of the short sync cables that were supplied in the box with the trigger (the cable goes in the "out" socket on the trigger). The other, first trigger will be in your camera's hotshoe and will trigger both your B1 and the second trigger attached to your SF-58 (both triggers and the B1 need to be set to the same channel, of course). I don't have an SF-58 in front of me (using the SF-64 now) but I am assuming the sync socket on the left side panel of the flash (marked 1.10 in the manual) will accept one of those cables. If, for whatever reason, it does not, then a simple flash sync adapter attached to the SF-58's hotshoe will. (Search Amazon for: "Hot Shoe Flash Adapter (Hot) with PC Sync Socket"). This last method works for practically any flashgun, even ancient ones without slave modes and external sync sockets (I use an old Metz flash I bought on ebay for 40 Eur like this).
