Lucena Posted February 20, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since today the eye-sensor does not work. I tried everything, from reset to change batteries, settings... if I select the EVF mode only it works, so it is really the eye-sensor that does not work. Anyone experienced this? Any clue? Thanks... Advertisement Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Hi Lucena, Take a look here EVF-LCD eye sensor bug. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Leica Guy Posted February 20, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 20, 2017 Haven't experienced, but I wonder if you could clean the eye sensor. Maybe it got dirty and that's inhibiting operation. Good Luck.

Leica Guy Posted February 20, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 20, 2017 Dang. Sorry. I should have expected you would. So, LCD mode does not work? How about the rubber lip on the eyepiece? Could it somehow have moved a little on the left edge to engage the sensor? I would try pushing it gently to the left.
Leica Guy Posted February 20, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 20, 2017 I wonder if that rubber lip can be safely removed? I wouldn't be surprised if it is just pushed into place. Does anyone else know?
Lucena Posted February 21, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted February 21, 2017 LCD works perfectly, EVF too. It is just the function of eye recognition that allows the switch between the two that does not work.

Lucena Posted February 21, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted February 21, 2017 I called Leica, within 10 days when back to mine (I am actually travelling in the north of my country) I will send it to them. They said it would take about 4/5 weeks to send it back... I think this is the right thing to do.
Leica Guy Posted February 22, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 22, 2017 Totally agree Lucena. Get its fixed as quickly as possible and get back to taking great photos and enjoying the Q. Super good luck. Let us know when you receive it back and what they found. Hopefully it's not too expensive for you.
likealot Posted March 2, 2017 Share #10 Posted March 2, 2017 Why on earth would it take that long to get it fixed? It's not like Leica have a huge number of cameras that go back for repair?
Lucena Posted March 2, 2017 Author Share #11 Posted March 2, 2017 Why on earth would it take that long to get it fixed? It's not like Leica have a huge number of cameras that go back for repair? I live in Portugal. The only Leica store in the country is 600km away from me, I have to post them the Q. And they send items to be repaired to Germany... wda Posted March 2, 2017 Share #12 Posted March 2, 2017 I seem to recall that I sent my X Vario directly to Leica Germany with my dealers agreement. All documentation was emailed to me. All I had to do was print it out and hand it to the Leica arranged courier. It was returned directly to me. See if that is an option for you. It would save a little time. I meant to add that my instinct is that this is not a fault. I have set my Q for EVF-only operation by default; for a trial period. Menu and replay go directly to the LCD. In a way it is simulating how an M model works, the one without a monitor. Only when I am taking close-ups do I revert to viewing on the LCD. It is quite liberating when out and about.
