John Photography Posted January 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'll be traveling throughout Asia and wanted to get a waterproof case for my Q. I'm not looking to use the Q in the water, but we'll be in and out of boats and I'd rather have it in my backpack in a sealed case rather than around my neck. I was thinking of a small Pelican case with padding? Anyone ever use one? if so, which size did you go with? TIA

pico Posted January 25, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2017 I look forward to suggestions from the group. Let me add, that while it would be difficult today, I would love to see something like the Leica/Leitz Mbroo waterproof ever-ready case made again. millsart Posted January 25, 2017 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2017 Heavy duty Zip-lock style freezer bag. Adds zero weight and bulk, waterproof should your camera bag or backpack fall into the water, and also is really handy for going from hot and humid to air conditioned environments and preventing fogging. I've had a waterproof Pelican case and it was just too big and bulky to be practical when traveling. When I go hiking or boating these days I keep the camera in the ziplock bag, just in the event my bag slips from my shoulder or something getting in the boat. That is where the highest risk can occur. Now when I'm on the boat I take it out of the bag, you don't use it for shooting, but you can't shoot with a Pelican case either. Basically I don't worry about falling off the boat with camera in hand, just unlikely to happen. But knowing that if my bag falls into the water, I get caught in a rain storm etc that the contents will still be dry and safe is nice piece of mind, and a ziplock bag cost less than a quarter
simon72 Posted February 3, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 3, 2017 Have tried many cases. The best one I've found so far is the matador pouch. Very light, offer good protection and has a built-in rain cover for extreme weathers. Very compact so I can put in my coat pocket. Highly recommended https://matadorup.com/products/camera-base-layer
