can't you use Leica M app on IOS or Android, it allows for remote shutter conrol.

I tried that. It was what I was using as a remote trigger. Unless I am missing something, it won't let you control shutter speed directly. It displays your selected shutter speed but won't let you change the values. On Auto mode or Bulb, it displays the camera selected value, but again won't let you update. It was dark enough that exposure comp--the only other thing I could think of--didn't result in a shift of shutter speed. It stayed at 32s on automatic or bulb. Maybe a higher ISO would have had a max exposure length of 16s? I was worried about banding, though.

I've never been into shooting sunsets, but the first day in T&C I woke up early and saw the scene below when I stepped out on the veranda at 4:50 am. It's unusual because usually there is a strong breeze 24 hours a day that chops up the water, without the dark color reflections of the image below:
