Picasa web for Mac

Google now has a couple of tools available for OS X 10.4 users who want to upload photos to a Picasa web site.

http://picasaweb.google.com/

One tool is a standalone importer, the other works inside of iPhoto. I have used the iPhoto export module and it works great. You get 250 megabytes of online photo web pages for free, which seems like a very good deal to me! You need a Gmail account to use picasaweb. If you live in the United States you don't need an invitation to get a Gmail accouont, just a cell phone number.

Yes a free photo hosting site can't be bad - having tried both upload options they seem to me to be a little slow - but it's early days in this Mac version.

So looks like a nice alternative to have, and surely puts further pressure on the dotMac service. Increasingly most of the things you obtain from Apple's subscription service are available elsewhere for free.

Dotmac is still the best source to post your video. Since video is part of the features in some leica digi cams, this forum should also include a thread for such. No?

Just tried a 'drag & drop' of some photos from Lightroom into Picasa's upload utility. All seemed to work fine (if somewhat slowly) but on closer examination the files uploaded were the 'originals', prior to the various adjustments made in Lightrooms' develop module.

Not what was intended at all, anyone else experienced that?
