I'm a happy owner of a pair of M7's, but after reading this thread and seeing the fine images of all those MPs, I'm wondering if my satisfaction is simply unjustified......I honestly have no complaints with either M7, they simply deliver the goods. But this thread has me wondering if I'm missing out on the "genuine" Leica experience. Perhaps all along I've been nothing but a fraud, a Leica wannabe, a deviant from the craft. Perhaps not shooting with an MP has deprived me of all that is Leica. Damn I hate threads like this.....just when I thought I had everything I needed, feelings of lust have awaken :o

:D

Of course, jumping over to an MP after the M7 would also be like swapping from lefthand drive to righthand drive - that fiendish shutter dial goes retro and opposite to the M7 and all digital M's :p

Camera lust is a terrible thing ...

Just bought a chrome MP, was a close one between that and a chrome M7 (and I would of been happy with either) but mechanical perfection won my heart upon handling. Pic. To follow Monday when I collect. I am more excited than I have ever been about any purchase, embarrassingly giddy!

A word in favour of the PhotoEquip ML-grip for the film M cameras. They fit over the existing baseplate, give you a centered tripod mount, and extend all along the bottom of the camera unlike the Leica offering and are altogether spiffy. No financial interest, just a satisfied customer etc...

(My two babies, hopefully with the appalling noise in the M9 photo Lightroomed out)

you will Fizz, you will...;-)

I made a promise to myself, that if I can afford an MP/M7 on a single paycheck, then I can call myself successful.

I hope to keep that promise, because I broke my other Leica promise; that I'll marry whatever girl that buys me a Leica, and while she only gave me the money, she hasn't asked for it back, even after we broke off the engagement.

One day, you will be mine. A nice girl, too.

...Chris and Alain, welcome to the forum - look forward to further input from you.

Thanks!

A bit about me:

I sold my M6 about 10 years ago, when I went digital because I did not had the time nor the space any more for darkroom work. I promised myself that I'll come back one day... I've had a nikon digital workflow workflow ever since (now shooting with a D3x), but lately I've played film on a F3 and a F6. D3x is a fabulous camera for my landscape and wildlife work, but quite big so I was looking for something less 'visible' for 'people' photography. So back to Leica, starting with the MP and 2 lenses. I found a Noctilux, could not pass on it, and a 35mm summarit until I can get a 35 summilux.

I want to get a M9 as well, as I like to combine film and digital in my workflow. I have had some good experience using kodak 400CN that I can get developed almost anywhere, unlike conventional bw film.

Alain.
