Advertisement Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Hi chrasmussen, Take a look here I love my MP. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ashwinrao1 Posted November 11, 2009 Share #1362 Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) I just joined this wonderful group by purchasing an chrome MP today. I was sad to see my M3 go, but found a great deal at a dealer that I know well, and it was hard to pass up. I have it here, posing alongside the 35 'lux asph and 90 APO cron, with very proud 50 'lux asph getting it's assignment on this wonderful camera!!! All will be carried in the Artisan & Artist bag in the background.... So I can say that on day 1, I love my MP! Welcome, dear visitor! Pedro Posted November 11, 2009 Share #1363 Posted November 11, 2009 On black paint MPs does the strap rubbing on the camera scratches the black paint off? If yes, do you protect the camera to keep it pristine with a special strap / case or you simply do not care and let it scratch freely?

antistatic Posted November 11, 2009 Share #1365 Posted November 11, 2009 Very cool Rob. FWIW Artisan & Artist make a strap with a protective leather circle for the lugs. I'm sure others like Luigi do as well.
peter_n Posted November 11, 2009 Share #1366 Posted November 11, 2009 On black paint MPs does the strap rubbing on the camera scratches the black paint off? If yes, do you protect the camera to keep it pristine with a special strap / case or you simply do not care and let it scratch freely? I've always used Domke Gripper straps and they have little leather protector thingies that lie against the camera body. But now I'm cobbling together two Domke straps from old bags that will have metal swivel hooks on the end and my two MPs will probably get dinged up. They are keepers so I don't really care. bsmukler Posted November 13, 2009 Share #1368 Posted November 13, 2009 At least in the past, Tamrac quick-release straps (the ones with the leather shoulder pads) included leather protectors that sit between the strap end and the camera. I've used them for many years on Nikon and Leica cameras with no damage to any of the camera bodies.
biglouis Posted November 29, 2009 Share #1369 Posted November 29, 2009 Damn this thread! There goes the deposit for an M9. I decided that for once, despite discretion being the better part of valour on the bleak streets of the East End, if it was going to be a MP, it had to be a chrome one. Just waiting for my first roll of Tri X 400 to come back from the shop. Welcome, dear visitor! antistatic Posted November 29, 2009 Share #1370 Posted November 29, 2009 Wise choice. When people are trading their M9s for the price of a body cap on the M10 your MP will still be going strong.

I am thinking that I would sell my M8 and one of my M6TTLs to get a Chrome MP.. Yes, this thread has been killing me.. and it might be time to stop that. cheers
tobey bilek Posted November 30, 2009 Share #1374 Posted November 30, 2009 The only thing wrong with it is the old brass cassetts will not fit. I stopped with 2 early M6 models for that reason. Done. Finished.
SteveYork Posted November 30, 2009 Share #1375 Posted November 30, 2009 I loved my spare MP so much I...sold it to fund a SLR based on the Leicaflex SL for some nature trips. I'm having so much fun with those old cameras, I'm now wondering whether I should sell all my rangefinder stuff. The old SLRs fit my big hands better. If you can find one second hand, or even a good price new, they are a bargain and ideal for film shooting. Just a thought. If you do a search for my post "Bentley with its bonnet up" you'll get the idea. LouisB
