I just joined this wonderful group by purchasing an chrome MP today. I was sad to see my M3 go, but found a great deal at a dealer that I know well, and it was hard to pass up.:)

I have it here, posing alongside the 35 'lux asph and 90 APO cron, with very proud 50 'lux asph getting it's assignment on this wonderful camera!!! All will be carried in the Artisan & Artist bag in the background....

So I can say that on day 1, I love my MP!

On black paint MPs does the strap rubbing on the camera scratches the black paint off?

If yes, do you protect the camera to keep it pristine with a special strap / case or you simply do not care and let it scratch freely?

I've always used Domke Gripper straps and they have little leather protector thingies that lie against the camera body. But now I'm cobbling together two Domke straps from old bags that will have metal swivel hooks on the end and my two MPs will probably get dinged up. They are keepers so I don't really care.

At least in the past, Tamrac quick-release straps (the ones with the leather shoulder pads) included leather protectors that sit between the strap end and the camera. I've used them for many years on Nikon and Leica cameras with no damage to any of the camera bodies.

Damn this thread! There goes the deposit for an M9. I decided that for once, despite discretion being the better part of valour on the bleak streets of the East End, if it was going to be a MP, it had to be a chrome one. Just waiting for my first roll of Tri X 400 to come back from the shop.

That's one lovely choice though! :)

Very nice camera (and decision)!

Same here. I am thinking that I would sell my M8 and one of my M6TTLs to get a Chrome MP.. Yes, this thread has been killing me.. and it might be time to stop that.

cheers

made the last payment just now. i put this mp on layaway 6 months ago to do the routine suggested by mike johnston.

The Online Photographer: The Leica as Teacher

as i won't be getting a 50mm summilux asph anytime soon, i'm looking at the 50mm planar zm. =)

Congrats Raizans! That's a beautiful camera. Enjoy life now !!

Raizans, if you are looking for a high quality, low cost lens then I can't recommend highly enough the CV Nokton 50/1.5. If you can find one second hand, or even a good price new, they are a bargain and ideal for film shooting. Just a thought.

If you do a search for my post "Bentley with its bonnet up" you'll get the idea.
