Mike, you are right - but at the end the pic counts.....;)

Yes Bernd I totally agree with you... mechanics not withstanding, the resulting image is the whole point and there are many tools to choose from to get that image. May I quote Erwin Puts again where he supports this point:

It is extremely simple to use, very supportive of the kind of photography you want as the large and bright viewfinder shows you the environment that you have selected where the anticipated picture will take place. And the camera will always perform as expected and never let you down ... In reality you do not even think about the camera ... One needs a sensitive eye and mind to see below the surface of life happening around us. The Leica, according to HCB, interrupts the least in the emotional relation between the photographer and his view of the world; in short the camera supports his life style.

Photography is not so much about our camera as what's 10 centimeters behind it-- our minds-- the capacities we have for reason, reflection, imagination, creativity, and skill. I've found (finally after so many years!) that the Leica MP facilitates and encourages this process the best.

Wow!

Slightly embarrassed that I didn't realise the MP was so different. So its not the same as the OM3 is to the OM4ti then at all!

Maybe I should rethink then and look for a used MP rather than an M6. I love shooting in manual so that wouldn't be an issue but I was struggling to justify £800 on an M6 and I will have even less justification to spend double that on an MP that will be rarely used when I could get myself a nice used 75 cron for the same (or even less) money!

Thanks for all the info and for not ribbing me for my lack of knowledge. Food for thought. :)

Maybe you should look at an M2, truly manual so smooth gears (brass not steel) and such a price difference you could easily buy two

Keep the thread going! Just developed some of my first pictures from my new MP. This is really fun shooting film again, and I am really loving my MP!

Azzo,

your photos are very beautiful,

but a black body and a silver lens is a no go (in my opinion)

Have to agree with Martin, you'll never make it work.

Ivan, my guess is a Canon Ixus, or G10. You know how to make that baby sing! Am I right again ?

If not. then a silver 50mm Elmar-M of Austrian origin (post Germany that is) temporarily fixed to a black MP with grubby fingerprints on the 0.72x viewfinder. Exposed within 15 ft of your bathroom door on a Sunday morning.

:D
