Hello All,

A long-time lurker here, and I have waited over 3 years to be able to post here.

This arrived yesterday, so I am proud to be a contributor to this wonderful thread.

With my Konica UC-Hexanon 35mm F2 (a.k.a Summicron V4 killer)

whats a M3J Looks like a MP-3 with modern film counter. The serial number is modern too. Is this a Japanese market sp ed?

I'd like to know about this rare edition, too; especially if it is an authentic M3 in terms of its VF magnification and framelines.

Damn you all vile creatures, you have all sparked my lust for MP. My .72 M6 with 35 cron pre-asph is working well, there is no way she's going to be my only Leica film body for long.

Any suggestions on a reasonable price for a mint MP? I saw a few bodies at Popflash, their prices seem to be fair. Thanks!

Its the 1st version chrome 35/1.4 Summilux (with Ollux hood) using rare earth glass. It was the world's fastest 35mm lens for its time when it was released by Leitz back in the 1960's.

It was the father to your 35/1.4 pre-ASPH :D

Nice !! :D I haven't seen one of these yet.

About that MP-6 ... I have googled a little about that MP version and it looks like there were only 400 units made, for the Japanese market ? Something like a pre-production MP with different engravings and leather coverage ?

These are rare lenses. You have to handle one to appreciate its build quality. It uses an E41 filter so the glass is slightly wider than yours (which makes it even more incredible that Leitz was able to make the lens smaller, yet still at f1.4 with later versions, such as yours (a nice late example with the latest coatings)

You can see some more pics of this lens in Lots 207/208:

WestLicht Photographica Auction

The black V1's are super rare.

^^ Thanks a lot for the information and the link !! :)

Now there is one different version of this lens I some day would like to use, the 35mm Summilux-M Aspherical (1st version, not the actual ASPH) Unfortunately $$$$ out of reach ...
