Advertisement Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Hi abrewer, Take a look here I love my MP. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
-kk- Posted March 6, 2008 Share #442 Posted March 6, 2008 Hi Allan, thanks for the welcome. Ive gone through 3 rolls on the MP (on the 40/2 and 90/4), and probably will get through about 10 by the end of the week. I wont get a chance to process them until mid of next week when i touchdown in New Zealand, so I wont actually see any results until then, but im loving the tactile sensation of the MP. The CV lens I just bought from the Singapore dealer, and will be putting it to use over the weekend (will be at Club Med Malaysia!), should be good. its a heavy little lens this one, much heftier than the 40 summicron. Will be posting a full review of my experiences with the MP and lens in the next few weeks, but the fact that im shooting more film now than ever before just goes to show how much i like fondling my MP

Daniel Ortego Posted March 14, 2008 Share #445 Posted March 14, 2008 Can anybody play? Well, I have the black 28-cron on my silver/chrome M8 and the match is perfect. Of course, the silver lenses are even more tantalizing although it is, what it is. Likewise, I just recently received my new silver 50-lux and it’s a dream lens for sure! Rolo Posted March 15, 2008 Share #448 Posted March 15, 2008 My MP is down ! Back to Leica under warranty for a couple of weeks, maybe. Miss it terribly and bunch of lenses standing idle. Not to worry, it'll be welcomed when it returns. Rolo Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! peter_n Posted March 16, 2008 Share #449 Posted March 16, 2008 Very nice! What went wrong with it?
Rolo Posted March 16, 2008 Share #450 Posted March 16, 2008 Very nice! What went wrong with it? High shutter speeds and wobbly re-wind post. Needs to take more photos. Dealer recommends regularly exercising the speeds that you don't use, even if the camera is new. I have no idea why that would be. Rather than being negative about it, I quite like the idea of the body being 'tuned' for perfect service after a few months running-in. Rolo

Dealer recommends regularly exercising the speeds that you don't use, even if the camera is new. I have no idea why that would be. Hmmm. The wobbly rewind post I haven't heard of before. On my mechanical cameras I exercise each speed 5-6 times at the beginning of each month regardless of whether I use the speeds or not. I do the same with the 1/60 and 1/125 speeds on my M7s because they are mechanical.
Guest VLux Posted March 17, 2008 Share #453 Posted March 17, 2008 .. Die hat ja auch `nen Kratzer !! Und die Gegenlichtblende auch. Nee Leica ist auch nicht mehr dat wat et mal war.

JWW Posted March 24, 2008 Share #455 Posted March 24, 2008 I like both my MP and M3. MP for wider angles and M3 for 50mm and up with it's .90x viewfinder. Jan Welcome, dear visitor! Rolo Posted March 26, 2008 Share #456 Posted March 26, 2008 "Not a quick fling, but the camera for a lifetime." - Leica web site description of the MP. Just hearing the Leica Chairman describe the M8 as his 'flag ship' I started wondering when that mantle was taken from the MP. IMO 'flag ship' should represent excellence in design, manufacture, handling, reliability - Not a quick fling, but the camera for a lifetime !! Surely, that position lies with the MP, we'll even debate it with M7 owners, but to hand it to a 4 year transient model that, according to the owners here, continually falls over, contains plastic and no brass and can't focus is not in keeping with hero worship. The Leica flag ship is the MP ! :D Rolo
Rolo Posted March 26, 2008 Share #457 Posted March 26, 2008 Your MP fell over and sunk too didnt it? Back from Solms? How long does it take? Been away 2 weeks. Don't know if it went to Solms, or if it stayed in the UK. Flag ships need maintenance too. Is there a tracking system for repairs? Does one get an explanation of what was found ? Be happier when it comes home. Rolo
rob_x2004 Posted March 26, 2008 Share #458 Posted March 26, 2008 Laughs...I am expecting months...being voyage from the antipodes. Still, its an anchor if it doesnt go:D. Yea their web page says theres a tracking system .................................. Wheres the uncertain frown emoticon.
Rolo Posted March 26, 2008 Share #459 Posted March 26, 2008 Yea their web page says theres a tracking system .................................. Wheres the uncertain frown emoticon. Thanks for that reminder Rob. My MP isn't on the tracking system, so maybe it didn't get sent there. The problems should be well within the skills of the UK service engineer: shutter timing; wobbly post; stiff base plate lock and soft detent on the iso selector. It was only the shutter speeds that caused me to send it in. However, I did send a 50mm lens to the UK office on 20 Feb and that's now in the system and described as 'in repair'. Should both be back within 3 weeks, I expect. Just bought 80 rolls of Reala for £32 in anticipation !! Rolo Welcome, dear visitor!
