Will the T (typ-701) shoot to built-in memory if SD card locked?

If I have understood it correctly the T (typ-701) cannot make a backup to the built-in memory.

So I wonder if it is possible to lock the SD-card and thus "force" the files onto the built-in memory?

Thus one can hand over a blank SD card if somebody "insists" and still have the photo files in the memory.

Can somebody who owns the camera perhaps try it?

Many thanks for your answers

I think I better re-phrase my question since it is not about copying data from internal memory to sd card or vice versa or write speed of internal memory (even though it is slow).

Will the camera bypass a locked SD card and write directly to the internal memory or will the camera report: sd card locked?

Hope this is clearer :)

No it will not. Just tried it for you. As soon as you press the shutter half way down, a message pops up saying that the SD card is protected. The camera will not allow you to capture an image.

What I wanted to say with my first post is that the internal memory is not very useful.

If it's like every other camera I've owned that has internal memory as well as an SD card, the T will only write to internal memory when there's no SD card in the slot. So if your card becomes full, pull the card and you can get a few more exposures before you fill internal memory. (Also, turn off RAW capture as internal memory normally won't hold more than one or two exposures in raw format.)

I had internal memory with a couple of cameras in the past. The best use I ever found for it was to include a couple of pictures of my default configuration options and photos of contact information for recovery purposes in case the camera was recovered after being lost or stolen ... It's easy to prove that it's yours if the internal memory has your personal contact info in it. :-)

Dear Michael

Thanks for taking the time and try it for me.

That is actually a very good idea.

The T has 16GB internal memory and the new TL version has 32GB, so enough for a lot of images..

Anna I've never been asked to hand over a card, but have on a couple of times been asked to delete an image. Instead of causing conflict I have deleted, and then used Sandisks Rescue Pro software to recover the images when I've got home. But don't delete by formatting the card.
