AnnaBB Posted December 19, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) If I have understood it correctly the T (typ-701) cannot make a backup to the built-in memory. So I wonder if it is possible to lock the SD-card and thus "force" the files onto the built-in memory? Thus one can hand over a blank SD card if somebody "insists" and still have the photo files in the memory. Can somebody who owns the camera perhaps try it? Many thanks for your answers AnnaBB
Advertisement Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Hi AnnaBB, Take a look here Will the T (typ-701) shoot to built-in memory if SD card locked?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JPP1 Posted December 19, 2016 Share #2 Posted December 19, 2016 There is no problem copying files from SD card to internal memory or the other way around. I generally use this for backup when travelling.
MichaelU Posted December 19, 2016 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2016 Files will be stored on the internal memory if no SD card is in the camera. There is no "force" required. I always use a SD card to store the files as the internal memory to by far too slow. The camera stores files much faster if you use a fast SD card. I use SanDisk Extreme Pro (95 MB/s). Many thanks for your answers AnnaBB I think I better re-phrase my question since it is not about copying data from internal memory to sd card or vice versa or write speed of internal memory (even though it is slow). Will the camera bypass a locked SD card and write directly to the internal memory or will the camera report: sd card locked? Hope this is clearer /AnnaBB
MichaelU Posted December 19, 2016 Share #5 Posted December 19, 2016 No it will not. Just tried it for you. As soon as you press the shutter half way down, a message pops up saying that the SD card is protected. The camera will not allow you to capture an image. What I wanted to say with my first post is that the internal memory is not very useful.
papimuzo Posted December 19, 2016 Share #6 Posted December 19, 2016 May I ask what happens when the SD card is full? Does the T 701 is going to use the internal memory if you continue to take pictures?
ramarren Posted December 19, 2016 Share #7 Posted December 19, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) If it's like every other camera I've owned that has internal memory as well as an SD card, the T will only write to internal memory when there's no SD card in the slot. So if your card becomes full, pull the card and you can get a few more exposures before you fill internal memory. (Also, turn off RAW capture as internal memory normally won't hold more than one or two exposures in raw format.) I had internal memory with a couple of cameras in the past. The best use I ever found for it was to include a couple of pictures of my default configuration options and photos of contact information for recovery purposes in case the camera was recovered after being lost or stolen ... It's easy to prove that it's yours if the internal memory has your personal contact info in it. :-)

floyd Posted December 19, 2016 Share #10 Posted December 19, 2016 Been shooting using the internal memory and got 428 images in RAW + Super Fine Jpeg.
Learner Posted December 19, 2016 Share #11 Posted December 19, 2016 How do you get the images stored on the T's internal memory: a) onto your computer? (via a cable?) back onto an inserted SD card? (Perhaps this is impossible / a waste of time)

The T has 16GB internal memory and the new TL version has 32GB, so enough for a lot of images..
floyd Posted December 19, 2016 Share #13 Posted December 19, 2016 Import the images in to Lightroom via the supplied cable.
floyd Posted December 19, 2016 Share #14 Posted December 19, 2016 Anna I've never been asked to hand over a card, but have on a couple of times been asked to delete an image. Instead of causing conflict I have deleted, and then used Sandisks Rescue Pro software to recover the images when I've got home. But don't delete by formatting the card.
