ramarren Posted December 21, 2016 Share #21  Posted December 21, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've only slowly come to use profiles over the past decade. First with the Panasonic G1, then rather extensively with the Ricoh GXR-M, a little bit with the Olympus E-M1.  The Leica M9, M-P typ 240, and now SL make them much more useful and easy to deal with: they're simple, nameable, and easy to set up. I defined all four profiles I use with the SL within a month after getting the camera a year ago, and they've been a major time saver for me since.  Profile1: R Lens :: standard setup for using R lenses, defaults to 50mm lens Profile2: SWC :: my emulation of a Hasselblad SWC for use with 15-16mm focal length, defaults to 15mm lens Profile3: SL-MF :: standard setup for the SL24-90, manual focus Profile4: SL-AF :: standard setup for the SL24-90, autofocus  They just make it easy and quick to get back to a known, worked out configuration at any time. Very useful. All of them remained intact without anything else to do through the update process.
