Should I be concerned about small dent in shutter?

Yesterday I discovered a small dent in my shutter. I am pretty sure it was not there two weeks ago when I cleaned the sensor. I don't have any non-Leica lenses and none of my Leica lenses are collapsible.

Does anyone have similar marks/dents? Wonder if it will get worse. I have sent an email to Solms for their opinion.

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Send it in and get it fixed before it becomes more serious and perhaps damages the sensor.

That's what I should do. But sure hate to part with it for another 6 to 8 weeks. Got it back two months ago after SDS and update. Guess two months there and two months here.

i have the same indent on my shutter..just appeared one day.Mine is just back from Solms so I am damned if I am sending it in again.Appears to be working fine but it is worrying and I have no idea what has caused it.

Andy:

Is yours at about the same location?

Hi Alan

is it a dent?

After reading the other thread, I looked at my M8's, and BOTH of them had a small mark in the same place as the rip in the shutter. I scrubbed the mark very thouroughly with an alcohol soaked toothbrush (read I very very gently rubbed them with a visible dust corner sensor swab) and the marks came off.

I don't have any incompatable lenses either, but it's interesting that it's in the same place - it seems to me more likely that 'stuff' from inside the camera is getting on the shutter blade, and that if it's 'lumpy stuff' then it might do some damage.
