vanGeist Posted November 28, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted November 28, 2016 You may use normal 49mm filters, they fit into Series VII hoods perfectly.
pgk Posted November 28, 2016 Share #3 Â Posted November 28, 2016 Ffordes are showing a load of UVa in their used section.
michaelwj Posted November 28, 2016 Share #4 Â Posted November 28, 2016 eBay usually has a few, they often come in around A$40, so that's probably about 2 quid No need to pay the high prices some try to get.
jrp Posted November 29, 2016 Author Share #5 Â Posted November 29, 2016 I see that Mr Cad also has some. Â Manfrotto, the UK distributor of B+W doesn't have any (or much of a clue).
Lord Lucan Posted December 1, 2016 Share #6 Â Posted December 1, 2016 Just double check,if you want to put filter the easy way, look for filter adapter 54mm to 55mm.

jrp Posted February 12, 2017 Author Share #9  Posted February 12, 2017 I refuse to pay the £140 that Leica ask for a UVA II Series 7. The order of the B+W version via Manfrotto has yet to be fulfilled.  In the meantime I have a couple of second hand UVA ones for £15/30. One is marked 13009 and the other has no number but Leitz Wetzlar etc. I assume that they are different vintages. They are slightly differ (pinkish) colours. The only thing I have noticed is that bright point source lights seem to be slightly smudged, but whether that is the lens or sensor reflection or ... I have not bothered to determine.  If anyone has any insights into the different vintages of filter, it would be interesting to hear it !
tobey bilek Posted February 12, 2017 Share #10 Â Posted February 12, 2017 I believe serie 7 is 54.? Â mm. Â Very close to 55 mm standard. Â When series were common, there were adapters made by Tiffen and others. Â Check out b and h photo who still has inexpensive adapters . Â Â Â Also putting a 55 on series 7 Â lens may inhibit a sliding lens shade from working.
jrp Posted February 12, 2017 Author Share #11 Â Posted February 12, 2017 Well B&H have the B+W filter, for a reasonable price, so if Manfrotto can't get their act together, I'll ship the filter back across the Atlantic from them. The Series 7 fits inside the lens hood so I don't really want to fiddle around with adapters.

I wonder if Leica varied the source of filter glass too? I have Leica S7 filters on both 35 Summilux and Super-Angulon and must check whether they are the same (I think so) but in all honesty these lenses are quirky enough without considering marginal differences thatthe filters impose too.
