kaiserphoenix Posted November 2, 2016 Share #21 Posted November 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Guys this is a price increase thread on a leica forum. Not a political debate guys. The OP just asked whether there was a price increase and the price increase was due to the devaluation of the GBP. Which ofcourse was most likely impacted by the Brexit vote. It is early days to say what was "right" or not, but to say that the majority of ppopulation who voted out are ignorant is poor form, they had their reasons and whilst alot of the "propaganda" was false, there were some valid arguments. Some of the arguments for the "remain" camp was equally waffly too. ALOT of people voted to leave and that is what has happened. The future remains uncertain and in the short term, the pain will be felt. As a UK Citizen, the brexit vote has only brought more inflation and uncertainty for me, including Leica prices but also my other passion Watches, all the Major watch brands have also increased prices on their watches, including Rolex. Times will be tough for the foresseable future for us.

willeica Posted November 2, 2016 Share #22 Posted November 2, 2016 You need to stop subscription via a written note (registered letter preferred) according to German laws. Seems not to be nessesary in UK, but stopping just payment is not enough! Thomas This type of mentality does not help LFI or Leica. Thuggish behaviour is the antithesis of good marketing practice. ianman Posted November 2, 2016 Share #24 Posted November 2, 2016 It is early days to say what was "right" or not, but to say that the majority of ppopulation who voted out are ignorant is poor form, they had their reasons and whilst alot of the "propaganda" was false, there were some valid arguments. Some of the arguments for the "remain" camp was equally waffly too. ALOT of people voted to leave and that is what has happened. There were good reasons to leave, that is certain. Saying that some of the voters, on both sides, were ignorant is not meant to be an insult. It's just stating the fact that, and because of the lies of both camps, were misinformed. So not aware of the facts, to put it another way, ignorant. Many of the remain voters were also probably ignorant for the same reasons. The whole thing was just a farce from beginning to end. The consequences of the result of the referendum were clear and predictable though.

Reality is certainly beginning to bite hard, but I'd like to think our continental friends will step up and arrange for airdrops of humanitarian aid should the pound devalue further. We're a proud nation, so obviously just the essentials: food, drink and blingy Swiss watches. I'd hate to think that any Brits with a Rolex habit will soon be forced to collect Omegas. Guest Posted November 2, 2016 Share #27 Posted November 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Breathtaking arrogance from some of our European 'friends'. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised. Has anyone found an up to date "Hitler rant" on U tube. There is sure to be one about Brexit before long. Certainly had our money's worth from the film Downfall. There's no need for Brexit to poison any thread that can connect to it. I saw nothing in mjh's earlier post that was arrogant - it just gave me a wry smile. wattsy Posted November 2, 2016 Share #33 Posted November 2, 2016 While I would have enjoyed a different outcome of the referendum, those who opted for ‘Leave’ have got it coming. I'm not quite sure what punishment you think appropriate for a country that has the temerity to vote to leave the EU but a dose of import price inflation is not exactly an apocalyptic scenario and the country will likely muddle through (it has been through much worse). In any case, I don't think there's any cause for such naked schadenfreude: one country's currency devaluation is another country's more expensive exports. No matter how low an opinion of the UK other EU states may have, the UK is still an important market for many goods and whilst Leica cameras and Rolex watches are more price inelastic than cornflakes, across the board price increases are never good for sales. Manoleica Posted November 2, 2016 Share #36 Posted November 2, 2016 The U.K. Is awash with high end goods, the top few % just accept & pay up, Joe & Jane end up with less in their paypacket and subsequently less disposable...I wonder what the average value of cameras & other high end goodies are lurking in the homes of some of the Forums contributors?!?! William What help do Leica need ? I am sure Leica and LFI can manage perfectly well . If they can not " so be it" An industry will spring up of ex employees repairing and maintaining existing equipment and Canon and Nikon will gain a few extra sales.
