Cheers, Sean Sean: How is the Zeiss for resolution across the frame? I assume it is higher contrast than the Cron? Thanks, Alan

dseelig Posted June 14, 2007 Share #22 Posted June 14, 2007 I have the 25 and 21 zeiss lenses. So far both are excellent. I also have a leica 28 cron ,35 lux 75 lux and a 15 voigt and a 50 nokton. I think the zeiss lenses are great . I do feel like the voigtlander lenses are not of the same build quality. I have the zeiss and voigt 15 allzeiss and voigtlander are 6 bit coded. Color is excellent. No prolems at all. I would challenge anyone to know which image is from a non leica lens.

argomazov Posted June 14, 2007 Share #24 Posted June 14, 2007 Would appreciate your advice/experience in selecting a 35mm lens. My candidates are the Cron, the Biogon, and Ultron. I am staying away from the Lux because of the occasional back-focus problem discussed here, and my personal back-focus experience with the Lux 50 which NJ says may have to be sent to Solms. I have the pre-asph Lux 35, but it is prone to flare and is not as sharp as my Cron 28. I would like a 35 comparable to the Cron 28. Obvious choice is the Cron 35 but perhaps the others are just as good? Thanks in advance, Alan Alan, not to confuse things even more, but I would add the CV 35/2.5 to your list. Although I personally do not resonate much with the 46ish-equivalent lenght that the 35mm lenses have on the M8, I do love the CV 35/2.5 on the M8. Nothing scientific about it, but I really like it's OOF rendering and its contrast. Plus, both the pancake and the classic versions are really tiny and light lenses, which is always a plus for me. Probably Sean's review will shed more light on this subject next week. Cheers, Luca
mwalker649 Posted June 14, 2007 Share #25 Posted June 14, 2007 Hi Ed, I do think that the factory coding is an advantage for the Leica lenses. Next most convenient, in that respect, are LTM lenses with LT-M8 adapters for hand coding. Cheers, Sean Sean, I have a new non coded 35 LUX. Does John make a hand coded ring adapted for a Leica lens? This might be faster than sending the lens to NJ and I can still use it. Mike
