B-A-C Posted January 3, 2017 Share #81  Posted January 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I really like the silver rim on my MP. It matches the black Zeiss Biogon 35/2 and Planar 50/2 's silver rim perfectly. And the red dots on the rewind lever and the red "off" setting on the shutter speed dial matches the Zeiss lenses red distance scale markings perfectly also! The Zeiss ZM's are the best looking lenses on the MP for this reason in my opinion. They also have a "paint" that is shinier than the Leica lenses, and is thus a better match for the shiny black paint finish Ironically, I also prefer these two ZM's over the Leica counterparts IQ and handling wise - the 35/2 ASPH and 50/2 V5, that is.   Yeah...but...it has a blue dot!  I agree the Zeiss lenses are sublime.
Advertisement Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Hi B-A-C, Take a look here MP vs M6. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SilentShutter Posted January 3, 2017 Share #82 Â Posted January 3, 2017 Whatever film M you get, you never have to upgrade. Upgrade to what? A different finish? A different rewind and advance? A different metal? It's not like M6's (or the 'cheapened' M4-2/P) are all failing because they were built so cheaply. They have been working flawlessly for over 30 years. Â Now, 'want' to upgrade is a different story... but it's not a 'need' Â See it the same way.......as long as you know what lens you prefer most - but if that changes a different or "better" viewfinder can be helpful too ! I started with a "cheap" Leica M4-2, M4P and M6 but finally get happy with a M3 because I love the 50mm (and later the 135mm). Â *Peace !
