Klausb Posted October 12, 2016 Share #1 Β Posted October 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just a question. I've learned how fantastic the Leica M 50 APO should be. But, how is the difference in comparison to the standard Leica M 50 Summicron after conversion from dng to jpeg? Are the pretty grey nuances and the fantastic sharpness differences still visible? At which final picture magnification will become (possible) difference visible? Do you have any recommendation? Many thank in advance.

Joakim Posted October 12, 2016 Share #2 Β Posted October 12, 2016 When you view a DNG on the screen you are viewing a jpeg-rendering of the DNG and not the raw data, so if you see a difference on your screen between the APO and a standard summicron then you see a difference in JPEG. If you save your image as a full-size, max quality JPEG from PS before printing then there will little difference from printing from a TIFF or PSD file so if you see a difference in a print then you see the difference with a JPEG. So in short, a high quality jpeg that is large enough should show any differences.
