Jean-Michel Posted October 10, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wonder if any forum member has any experience with that combination. A friend gave me that lens -- Canon FD 70-210, f/4 -- together wit his other Canon stuff for my 'museum'. I now have an M-P and am considering getting a Vario-Elmar for occasional use (I have a 135 Elmarit that is also used occasionally). The zoom lens would let me leave my Canon 5d2 and lenses at home on a forthcoming lengthy tip. I also know that the Vario-Elmar lenses were made Minolta, so the Canon lens may well be of the same quality, but I do not know. Thanks, Jean-Michel
Advertisement Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Hi Jean-Michel, Take a look here M-P and Canon FD 70-210 lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Daniel Beacock Posted October 10, 2016 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2016 Hi Jean-Michel Although I don't have that particular lens, I use Canon FD's a lot on my 240, including the 85/f1.2, 135/f2 and 300/f4, and find they are great performers. There appear to be good reviews on the 70-210 so I can't see why it wouldn't be worth trying. All you have to do is get used to the slow performance of the EVF... bocaburger Posted October 10, 2016 Share #3 Posted October 10, 2016 I never used that particular lens but if you get an adapter from someplace you can return it, if you don't like how the lens performs the worst you'll be out is a few bucks for shipping. I have the 70-210/4 Vario Elmar-R (in fact, I have 2 of them, they were so cheap, a couple hundred $ apiece) and it's a fine lens, optically and mechanically. Maybe not as stellar as the Kyocera-made 80-200/4 but pretty darn good and much better than other zooms of the era. Minolta made one in their own mount too, but nowadays the prices are so close it doesn't pay. The Leica version is made like a tank.
