Im am learning to hate the subscription model.  I pay once a year, $120.  Every download messes something up so I will no longer update which was the whole point of CC.   Last two time I fired up the computer,  I could not launch.  Called Adobe one time,  second time I fooled around an hour.  The explanation after they checked to see if I paid was this happens sometimes.  Could not get JPEGS to open in ACR although the preferences were set for it.  Error message was I needed a different type of file or something to that effect.  Lost another hour. It worked last time !

Lightroom is a disaster.  I make a folder where imports are supposed to go,  and they go somewhere else.  No control over colorspace .  Sharpening is iffy.  It wants to do its own thing.  I hate the library concept.  Move a file from work disk to final storage,  and LR loses it unless I move it within LR.  But then I don`t know how to move to a new disk.  Nikons do not write to the card if I tether.  Then LR loses the files.

Photoshop/ACR/bridge is a dream program.  I can make it do anything.  If I can just get it to launch.

So how about Capture One.  It will work for Nikon and Leica.  What else works with both.  I would just work with Nikons programs,  but then I am stuck with Leica JPEGS, no DNG.

I am surprised that more people are not upset with Adobe's obvious money grab by going to the subscription model ... but that's a different topic, to be sure... .

I have been using Capture one for over a year at this point. It's a different workflow than Lightroom, for certain. That being said, the company does have some useful videos to assist newcomers with designing their own workflow, as well as taking advantage of the excellent RAW editing tools that I have found distinguish Capture One from Lightroom.

I would caution you to keep in mind that "edits" made in Lightroom will not transfer transparently to Capture One. Somewhere recently, I think that it's found on the Rangefinder forum at http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157966), I saw a thread where several people were discussing how to transition from LR to Capture One with a minimum amount of discomfort and redundant work. I know that I often export edited files as 16bit TIFFs from Capture One into LR if I want to use any of LR's features (something that I do less often, and, no, I do not have the Subscription version of that software).

In addition to the edits, managing MetaData and Keywords between these two systems in sometimes problematic. I might recommend Photo Mechanic if you're going to rely upon MetaData extensively ... come up with a file sharing scheme where images are culled and edited with PM then imported into Capture One. To do this, by the way, you'll have to wade through the Capture documentation on XMP sidecar options ... this is NOT for the faint of heart; I'd suggest exploring the Capture One Forums for previous threads on this topic.

And, of course, back-up everything before trying anything ...
