I'm glad to be able to report excellent service from Leica UK Service Centre.

Having made enquiries with Leica UK about having my 21mm ASPH coded I was awaiting a new shipment of mounts. Last week I called them and spoke to the very helpful David Humphries, who told me that the new mounts had arrived and that they had some spare (they had had a big demand for the 21mm ASPH mounts and had over-ordered from Germany). I asked to reserve one and said I would bring the lens personally.

Today I took the 1 hour trip to the Leica UK HQ at Milton Keynes where I found a warm welcome. The young lady who attended to me took my lens and about 20 minutes later it was done. It was just a simple mount swap - they did no other work, checking the lens or anything, which I had not asked for.

It was excellent service. I was told that there are three lenses that Leica UK cannot code, the Tri-elmar and the 90mm 'cron and one other that I forget (not one that I have.)

I'm lucky to be so close to the Service Centre.

Thank you, Leica UK.

Hi Tim

Aren't they excellent. Dave Humphries has been so helpful to me. They answer the phone, they do what they say they're going to do.

I've had fabulous service, it's so refreshing after years with other camera manufacturers (many of whom are perfectly good, just not the personal service).

So, Dave, If you're sad enough to be reading this in the evening when you shouldn't be working . . . . THANK YOU!

Tim

I've just been in touch with Leica UK about having my lenses coded. The other lens that has to go back to Germany is the 90mm Elmarit.

They can 'usually' code 35mm ASPHs and 50mm 'crons at Milton Keynes BTW.
