george + Posted June 12, 2007 Share #21 Posted June 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Whatever it is, it is irritating. And the longer I think about these individual but terribly irritating encounters, I begin to be convinced that Leica must do one thing: Exchange faulty cameras immediately. Or give a loaner for the duration of the repair. But leaving people without the cameras they paid for while they are in a long line from New Jersey to Solms and back is a very unsatisfactory solution. I am a big supporter of Leica. But if there is one thing that worries me is the thought of being left without my camera for months on end. THINK. Would we have all these - and there are quite a few - unhappy people if they could continue shooting with a working M8 - a camera they paid darn good money for? Hell, no. We would be all happy campers. Hello Leica . . . .hello . . . . You want to be different? Earn your stripes! How? Give loaners or replace faulty ones on the spot. It is worth the expense, believe me. As to myself, I am so far, very happy. I have not sent my early November M8 back yet. The filters arrived, so did the 35 Lux and my 50 Cron has been in NJ for coding only for the last three months. And the M8 is a stunning camera. But what Leica could do for business by instant support is tremendous. Advertisement Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Hi george +, Take a look here M8 does not recognize 3 of 5 coded lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stuart Richardson Posted June 13, 2007 Author Share #22 Posted June 13, 2007 Sounds like a LED is not working on the body to see the correct code. Stuart aren't you here in NY. Call Robert Fisk at leica NJ Hi Guy, Yes, I am in New York. I called Robert around noon today, but he did not call back. Hopefully he will call tomorrow. One problem I am experiencing is that I am trying to start out as a pro, but until I have enough things published I am not eligible for pro service. It's a bother as I am specifically planning on using this trip to shoot stock and put in an application to Nordic Photos. But I don't envy the task of correcting the cyan fringing for 100s or 1000s of images that I take there and I know that Leica NJ will not fix it fast enough. I bought the 28/2 primarily so that I would have a coded lens (I was using the CV 28/1.9) and to have it not work as advertised is a huge disappointment.
