jto555 Posted September 21, 2016 Share #1 Posted September 21, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Darn it! It was too good to be true. I downloaded a (Leica) DNG file from my M240 to my iPhone running iOS10, expecting the new OS to be able to handle the DNG file. No luck. It still opens the small embedded jpeg image. So just incase it was the same for all Raw files, I tried a CR2 file from my Canon, and yes it works as expected with the new software. A pin sharp full res. image. The funny thing is that Apple say their OS can now handle DNG files... I think they were talking generally and not Leica DNG. Ah well, I was going to buy an iPad Pro to handle editing shots on the go instead of carting around my laptop. That idea is now 'out the window'. matlep Posted September 21, 2016 Share #2 Posted September 21, 2016 Did you try using the Mobile Lightroom app?
asimplefarmer Posted September 22, 2016 Share #3 Posted September 22, 2016 I transferred my m240 dng to my 6s and edited it in Lightroom mobile today. Not sure what you were having problems with. Were you shooting in dng + jpg? Here's a link to that image https://flic.kr/p/M2HxTS
jto555 Posted September 22, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted September 22, 2016 I was shooting DNG only. Yes I can use Lightroom, if fact I have been using PhotoRaw and that works fine. However, they only are stopgaps at the moment. Even in Lightroom the preview images are from the embedded jpegs until the shots are imported into Lightroom or PhotoRaw. I cannot make a judement call as to sharpness, eyes open, expression, etc. and I do not want to waste time importing every single shot just so I can pick the best ones. If I shoot a wedding and am trying to go through 1500+ images to pick a couple for the couples Facebook or Instagram that night, I would be the waiting for an age toturn around the pics. With my CR2 files I can go through the iPhone album to pick the best ones and upload then in a fraction of the time. I am sure the iPhone will, at some stage, be able to handle (Leica) DNG files, but I wish they could now.
