LarryLeica Posted September 16, 2016 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) So, I picked up my Q today! I've only had it a few hours but so far I love it. I put the battery in the charger, saw the light was green, and pulled it out and put it in the camera. I then realized that green means the battery is charging not that it has finished charging, LOL. I find that a bit counterintuitive. Anyway, I played around with the camera for a few minutes and took some pictures of my wife who was absorbed in her iPhone. Five minutes later she told me not to take her picture! So, she never heard the shots I took! I love leaf shutters. Well done, Leica. I tried out the Macro mode and was impressed at how easy it was to get good shots. I'll report more when I've had a chance to shoot with it some more. LarryLeica Posted September 17, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted September 17, 2016 You're hooked just like the rest of us. Hope you'll post some photos soon on the image thread as well as the macro thread. Welcome aboard Thanks! Yep, I'm hooked. I took it out and shot with it this morning. I've always hated EVFs but this one is good enough to work with, indeed, it is excellent. The refresh rate is fast enough so I can capture fleeting moments and the camera is so snappy that it is a joy to shoot! Is there any way to switch quickly between EVF mode and Auto without going through the menus?
Iduna Posted September 17, 2016 Share #4 Posted September 17, 2016 Congratulations! I wish you a nice start with your new camera and I can already feel that you will enjoy it. The charger green is indeed quite odd....it happened to me also at first.
Leica Guy Posted September 17, 2016 Share #5 Posted September 17, 2016 Thanks! Yep, I'm hooked. I took it out and shot with it this morning. The refresh rate is fast enough so I can capture fleeting moments and the camera is so snappy that it is a joy to shoot! Is there any way to switch quickly between EVF mode and Auto without going through the menus? No, unfortunately there is not an easy way to switch. Suggest you try EVF Extrnded versus Auto and see which you like. Others have suggested this be part of the Fn button, but Leica has not yet chosen to implement it that way. This camera has quirks like all devices. I simply work around or overlook them because so much is right and it's a joy to use. It's returned fun back into my photography. Enjoy! Perhaps I'll just shoot it like a film camera and not worry about accessing the menus or reviewing shots while out shooting. The question is how much I'll need to change in the menus while in EVF mode. I think there is a slight lag in EVF extended and I want no lag while bringing it to my eye. Will OIS help me at all on the street when I'm moving and the subject is moving?
