The meaning of Photokina for M users is pretty simple -- we consumers, prosumers if you like, we are not professional users. The energy of Leica to cater to professional use, including finance and rapid turnaround on repair, lending bits out, everything B2B needs to be has been set aside for S and SL users..... Note too the suite of SL lenses announced. Understand that Leica does not view the M as the engine for professional photography as such it's focus of development going forward will reflect that. That's all

I bet they are going to loose out. The S strifes to compete in the niche medium format sector against more powerful (Phase One) or cheaper (Fuji) options. The SL has been bought to a great deal by those that have a collection of M lenses and want something up to date. I guess that the majority of people who are not already bought into Leica would go the Sony route. Their unique product is the M and they should capitalise on that.

I agree but from a marketing perspective the M is there but a product where tech advances will go. Think upper end and the T and the Q. M sinks to niche product. More obvious probably in a few years

It is still early in Leica's marketing position. That said, I could care less if they consider us M users non-professionals, amateurs. If so, that will bite Leica on the ass as they run away. If they do.
