Advertisement Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Hi EoinC, Take a look here Super Angulon 21 M-mount f/4 vs f/3.4. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
EoinC Posted October 27, 2016 Author Share #22  Posted October 27, 2016 With great thanks to Gary (NZ), I now have a nice SA 21mm f/3.4. The intention is to use it for film, but I took it out for a try on my Monochrom this evening, just to see what it's like. I think it's likely to be better suited to film, but fun to use... EoinC Posted November 6, 2016 Author Share #25  Posted November 6, 2016 Just a quick revisit. bocaburger Posted November 6, 2016 Share #26  Posted November 6, 2016 I had a 3.4, cracking sharp lens.  Vignetting never bothered me. The only issue compared to modern lenses was it could flare a lot in the sun.  I almost bought an f/4 because of the size and e39 filter, but right then the CV Skopar in LTM came along and I went with that instead.
russell Posted March 28, 2017 Share #27 Â Posted March 28, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) My SA f4 has new life on my M246. Â I use advanced metering and live view when I can slow down and take the time to frame. Â Otherwise the Italian flag issue isn't a problem in black and white nor is the relatively slow f4 with the high ISO of the M246. Â Even better with live view, I can close focus with the f4 version down to .4 meters which is the more interesting compositions with a wide angle. Â The close focus together with the smaller size, and I don't see what the f3.4 could do for me. Â Oh and yes, it's probably a decent match to my now stolen 35mm pre-asph summilux in fingerprint (from f2) and flare. Â Your finger will get in the picture quite often as it's so small. Â Quite a bit of resolution in the centre. Â And the edges are actually better than my 35mm v4 summicron. I'm tempted to pair it with a 1960s 35mm summaron or summicron. Â I also have the 1980s version of the pre-asph 21mm, but it's too big for what is a specialist lens, i.e. I wouldn't take it in a travel bag, but the 21 SA f4 is easier to throw in and schlep around. Â So, are there any convincing arguments that the f3.4 is better on the M246? Â I can't imagine any
