helged Posted August 25, 2016 Share #1 Â Posted August 25, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone with experience with the Lee filter system share thoughts about the Seven5 vs 100 system for (primarily) M-lenses? I am particularly interested in learning about the somewhat limited vertical shifting of grad filters on Seven5.

pedaes Posted August 25, 2016 Share #2  Posted August 25, 2016 I use the Lee Seven5 System up to 24mm. If you look on the Lee website there is a table covering all lenses and recommended system. I think you may have issues with 18mm and wider with Seven5 system. Not sure what you mean by "limited vertical shifting". The Seven5 grads are custom made for Seven5 system, and have sharper graduation than100 system to suit the smaller filter/lenses, so think 100 System would not work as well on smaller RF lenses. Attached image used Polariser, Soft .6 ND (although hard grad is more used if you are just wanting one filter) and Big Stopper. Not sure you will see full effect at screen resolution so don't be put off!  (M(240)/35mm Summilux) Welcome, dear visitor! helged Posted August 25, 2016 Author Share #3 Â Posted August 25, 2016 Thanks! The situation I was thinking about was e g. a landscape where the horizon is very high or low on the image. In this case I imagine that the grad-filter cannot be positioned at the horizon with the Seven5, whereas the 100-system will do the job. But correct me if I am wrong... Â You would have no problems - the ND part of the Seven5 Grad is 45mm deep, as is the clear element, so will cover practically the whole frame if you need it to. I can't image a horizon too high or low in the frame that it would not cope with, remembering also that they are designed to be used at a angle from bottom corner to opposite top corner, and any point in between.
